"People have been calling Steve Reich the greatest living composer for more than 25 years," says NPR's Weekend Edition host Ayesha Rascoe in her introduction to Reich's interview with NPR's Tom Huizenga on the release of Steve Reich Collected Works. About the 27-disc box set, the composer says: "It makes me feel very good ... It's another way of saying the music is going to get out there. The music is going to have a life independent of me ... It's a great thing. And I'm very proud that it happened. And now I'm busily working on the next piece."

Brad Mehldau's Highway Rider at 15
It was 15 years ago this week: Brad Mehldau's Highway Rider was released on Nonesuch. This double-disc of original work reunited the pianist/composer with producer Jon Brion for the first time since Largo. It features performances by Mehldau’s trio (drummer Jeff Ballard and bassist Larry Grenadier), drummer Matt Chamberlain, saxophonist Joshua Redman, and a chamber orchestra, with orchestrations by Mehldau. On the album's release, the New York Times called it "his grandest effort yet."
